GE is a great mid-range option when it comes to appliances. As with many manufacturers, they offer models that vary considerably in price, and as is typically the case when it comes to appliances, you get what you pay for.
As with every brand, we recommend that owners of GE refrigerators have their condensers cleaned once a year. Not only does condenser cleaning improves the efficiency of freezers and refrigerators, but failing to clean the condenser can result in leaking contamination of the sealed system, impairing and eventually stopping the unit's ability to function. Sealed system repairs (when done properly) are very time consuming, labor intensive, and costly. In some cases, the cost of a sealed system repair can approach that of a new unit (depending, of course, on the unit), which is why we're so adamant about getting your condenser cleaned!
